New Compensation Option for War-Affected Residents

A new section titled "Compensation for Reconstruction" has been introduced in the "Diia" application as part of the "Recovery Program".

This has been confirmed by the press service of "Diia".

"If your home has been destroyed due to military actions, you can build a new one on your own land with government compensation under the "Recovery Program", – the message states.

The service is available to those who lost their private homes as a result of military actions and have land where they can construct a new building. Construction is only permitted on controlled territories where there are no active combat operations.

To receive compensation:

1. Submit a compensation application via the Diia app or at a local administrative service center. After review, you will be assigned a compensation amount that will appear in Diia.

2. Register a notice of construction commencement on the Diia portal or at the administrative service center.

3. After receiving compensation, cancel your ownership rights to the destroyed property.

4. Submit a request for the disbursement of funds in the Diia app: Services → Recovery → Compensation for Reconstruction.

You will need to update your bank details and select the object where construction will take place, according to the previously submitted notice.

The payment is divided into two installments of 50%. The first installment must be used for 90% of its intended purpose and confirmed in "Diia". It should be utilized within 18 months, and both installments must be spent within 36 months of receiving the first. Otherwise, the payment will revert to the government.

Reminder:

You can submit a claim to the Register of Damages through "Diia" for compensation for emotional pain and suffering due to the loss of a close family member.

Ukrainians affected by Russian aggression since February 24, 2022, now have the opportunity to submit six more categories of claims to the international Register of Damages via "Diia".

The "Diia" app has added extracts from the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property — regarding the fact of housing destruction or submitted applications for recovery.
