OpenAI has launched the GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini models in the ChatGPT platform. GPT-4.1 is available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers, while the mini version is accessible to all users, including those without a subscription.

The company claims that GPT-4.1 excels at coding and debugging tasks and executes commands faster than previous versions. With the introduction of these new models, OpenAI is also discontinuing support for GPT-4o mini.

The GPT-4.1 models first appeared in the API in April 2025, but the company faced criticism at that time for lacking a safety report. In response, OpenAI clarified that GPT-4.1 is not considered a "leading model" and therefore does not require separate verification like more advanced systems.
