Introducing AEON: Hexagon's New Industrial Robot

Hexagon has announced its latest industrial robot, AEON, developed in collaboration with NVIDIA. The robot's primary function is to automate technical and physical processes within manufacturing, logistics, aviation, and transportation sectors.

AEON has been trained in the NVIDIA Isaac Sim virtual environment, allowing it to quickly learn fundamental movement and manipulation skills in just a few weeks, while traditional training methods can take months. In real-world applications, AEON operates on a Jetson Orin computer and will receive an upgrade to IGX Thor to ensure safe collaboration with humans.

Additionally, AEON integrates with the Hexagon Reality Cloud Studio platform, enabling it to automatically scan environments and objects, creating digital replicas for further analysis within the NVIDIA Omniverse ecosystem. This approach facilitates the formation of highly accurate digital twins without the need for local infrastructure.

Moving forward, AEON will be capable of performing precise manipulations, inspecting parts for compliance, controlling machinery, and executing teleoperation tasks. Hexagon also plans to leverage NVIDIA Isaac GR00T generative models to expand the robot's skills based on simulations and human examples.

The first tests of AEON are already being prepared at highly automated enterprises.
