A driver's license represents freedom, independence, and the ability to explore new opportunities. Many people view driving skills as essential in today's world.
Currently, Ukraine does not impose an age limit for obtaining a driver's license, provided there are no medical contraindications. However, specific age restrictions are in place for different categories of vehicles.
From 16 years old, one can undergo training and obtain a license for mopeds and motorcycles in categories A and A1. For trucks with trailers, the minimum age is 19, and for trolleybuses and trams, it's 21.
According to Ukrainian legislation, the right to drive is granted at:
16 years – category A1, A;
18 years – categories B1, B, C1, C;
19 years – categories BE, C1E, CE;
21 years – categories D1, D, D1E, DE, T.
To obtain a license, one must study the traffic rules through an accredited educational institution or independently. After that, a theoretical exam must be passed at the MVS service center. Upon successfully completing the exam, candidates undergo practical training, followed by an internal practical test.
To take the exams, you need to prepare a package of documents:
Ukrainian citizen passport with registration or ID card;
medical certificate of fitness to drive;
taxpayer registration number;
existing driver's license (if applicable).
The fee for the theoretical exam is UAH 250, and for the practical exam, it is UAH 420.
Prior registration for services at the service centers is mandatory. For additional information, call (044) 290-19-88 or visit the MVS social media pages.
