Energy specialists from Odesa have successfully restored the energy systems in the Kherson region after Russian bombardments in February. Power has returned to nearly 2,000 households in Kherson.
This information was released by DTEK Odesa Electric Networks.
It is noted that 26 specialists worked on restoring the destroyed energy infrastructure due to shelling. The teams arrived in the city in mid-March.
“The frontline was only 3 to 10 kilometers away from the repair site. The energy workers had to operate in body armor and helmets due to safety concerns as the enemy continued to shell the area,” the statement reads.
The specialists managed to restore three high-voltage lines and a substation to supply power primarily to the water utility, according to DTEK.
On April 4, 2025, Russian troops targeted the Kherson CHPP using FPV drones.
On the morning of April 1, 2025, energy facilities in Kherson were again damaged, leaving 45,000 subscribers without electricity due to a Russian attack.
On March 27, Russian forces struck energy infrastructure in Kherson and Poltava, violating ceasefire agreements. The Kremlin had previously agreed to cease attacks on energy facilities, but these strikes indicate a breakdown in negotiations.
President Zelensky stated that Ukraine would respond to such violations and called on the international community to take action.
