Corruption Arrest in Odessa Region

In the Odessa region, law enforcement agencies, in cooperation with the SBU, arrested the acting head of the district military recruitment center for extorting a bribe. The suspect promised to remove a conscript from the wanted list for $1,500. He has been charged, and the court has chosen a detention measure.

Investigators discovered that the acting chief of one of the territorial recruitment centers was engaged in corrupt activities. He demanded $1,500 from a conscript who violated military registration rules for removal from the wanted list. He instructed the money to be transferred to a bank card. After the funds were transferred, he was arrested.

After gathering sufficient evidence, investigators charged the suspect under part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for a penalty of up to ten years of imprisonment. The court has selected a detention measure with the possibility of posting bail of over one million hryvnias. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Odessa Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
