In a military settlement in Odessa, law enforcement officials charged a 66-year-old dormitory manager with soliciting $4,500 from a serviceman in exchange for promises to improve his housing situation. She claimed she could facilitate housing allocation from the military housing fund, even though he was already entitled to it without any interference.
After the serviceman reported her demands for illegal benefits, investigators began looking into the case. Officers from the investigative department and the SBU documented her criminal activities.
In mid-July, the suspect contacted the serviceman again, insisting on the immediate transfer of the agreed amount and emphasizing that the quicker he paid, the sooner his housing issue would be resolved.
Following the cash handover, she was arrested, and the money was seized. She was charged under Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison.
The court imposed a preventive measure of custody with the option for bail set at 408,780 UAH, which the woman utilized.
The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office, and efforts are being made to identify other individuals involved in the crime.
