An official from the RTC and his accomplice have been arrested in Odesa on suspicion of bribery. They demanded 15,000 UAH for a fictitious summons that allowed individuals to evade conscription during mobilization.
The police, in cooperation with investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police, uncovered this criminal scheme. The head of the support group from one of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers recruited a local resident to find clients interested in avoiding conscription.
In June, the Odesa resident arranged a meeting between the serviceman and a potential "client," during which the latter was offered a fictitious summons for 15,000 UAH. This would allow him to move freely across the country.
During the next transaction, the official sent his accomplice to deliver the summons, who also offered similar summonses to the client’s acquaintances at a discount.
The police apprehended both suspects after the official transferred six more summonses through his accomplice. Investigators gathered sufficient evidence to inform them of the charges under part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court has imposed preventive measures in the form of detention with the possibility of bail: 1 million UAH for the serviceman and 500,000 UAH for his accomplice. Investigations continue under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
