Military Oversight of Universities: A New Approach to National Resistance

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has proposed a new initiative where military brigades will oversee universities. This initiative is part of the "Foundations of National Resistance" course.

The course will not only cover theoretical aspects but will also involve direct collaboration between military units and universities.

Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi shared this information during an interview on Radio Khartia.

According to him, this initiative will help young people deepen their understanding of national resistance and foster patriotism.

New regulations will introduce basic military training in universities starting from September 1, which differs significantly from traditional military training.

"When students are mobilized, they will undergo a comprehensive training that will facilitate their integration into military units," the minister stated.

Close cooperation is planned between military units stationed in the regions of universities as well as interregional collaboration.

"Not every brigade has the necessary level of readiness to work with universities. This also involves nurturing values and working towards a common goal," he added.

The utilization of the military’s material and technical resources, including training grounds, weapons, and instructors, is a crucial element of this initiative.

In the minister's opinion, such collaboration will establish a tradition where military units take care of universities, facilitating connections and actively engaging youth.

"The military honors their fallen comrades and supports the wounded. This is significant for students who can participate in these processes," Lisovyi emphasized.

The idea of military oversight over universities emerged from the practice of certain educational institutions that already collaborate with military units where their graduates serve.
