Solar Power Initiatives in Odessa's Educational Institutions: A Step Toward Energy Independence

Educational institutions in Odessa are embracing innovative solutions for alternative energy sources. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion by Russia in early 2022, the energy infrastructure has suffered significant damage, leading to frequent electricity supply disruptions for many establishments.

In the face of blackouts, solar power plants have become a viable alternative for stable electricity supply.

With the support of the Lithuanian company UAB Okata, a project for installing solar power systems is being implemented in Odessa's lyceums No. 86, 81, 9, 62, 92, and in the preschool institution «Yasla-Sadok» No. 195.

This project will ensure complete energy independence for these educational facilities, allowing the educational process to continue even during power outages.

Moreover, utilizing solar energy will significantly reduce budgetary expenditures on energy resources.

In light of the ongoing attacks on the energy system, the installation of solar power plants represents a crucial step towards the adoption of clean energy sources.

The project being developed by UAB Okata in the Odessa region forms the foundation for energy independence and a safer future. Its implementation began in August 2023, following an agreement with the Environmental Project Management Agency of the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment. The Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Odessa and the Odessa region coordinates this initiative.
