Healthcare and social service representatives in Odessa participated in a training session aimed at identifying developmental disorders in infants and preschoolers. The event was organized by the Odessa Regional Organization of Medical-Psychological-Pedagogical Assistance "Healthy Society" as part of the project "Resilient Families, Resilient Future: Transforming Child Care Systems in Odessa and Mykolaiv Regions", supported by UNICEF.
The training aimed to implement effective developmental screenings and establish protocols for identifying family needs and directing them to early intervention services.
Early intervention refers to comprehensive, interdisciplinary support for families raising children from birth to four years old who have developmental disorders or are at risk of such disorders. Integrating child development methods into daily life and enhancing family members' life skills help address identified issues and assist the child's social adaptation.
"Odessa is known as a leading city in implementing early intervention services. The collaboration of professionals will improve the health and quality of life for children in need of early intervention services," emphasized UNICEF early intervention project coordinator Tetiana Kutas.
