Enhancing Health: New Preventive Measures in Odessa

To ensure better health outcomes and early detection of diseases, the Odessa City Health Department is launching a new initiative under the «Health» program for 2024-2026, which includes free preventive events in Odessa's medical facilities.

In 2024, initiated by the Health Department, the «Odessa City Health Center» organized 29 Health Days targeting both adults and children.

The primary goal of these events is to raise awareness among residents about disease risk factors and the importance of preventive care, as well as to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

During these events, city doctors conducted free health screenings, including ophthalmological, dental, dermatological, otolaryngological, gynecological, and urological exams, along with various diagnostic tests such as mammography and ECG. They measured blood pressure, glucose levels, and body mass index.

This year, a total of 40,911 people underwent preventive screenings in Odessa's medical institutions, including 37,384 adults and 3,527 children. Notably, cancer screenings reached 13,378 individuals.

All patients with identified health issues were referred to specialists, as timely diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment.

This year, medical institutions also actively engaged in raising awareness about mental health. As part of the «How Are You?» program initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, a campaign was held where around 1,000 residents received psychological support.
