Fast-Track Cities Conference 2024: New Paths for Health

The Fast-Track Cities Conference 2024 will take place in Paris from October 13 to 15.

The event aims to summarize a decade of the global network uniting over 550 cities in the fight against HIV, hepatitis, and tuberculosis, and to outline strategies for the next ten years.

Odesa's mayor, Gennadiy Trukhanov, presented the city's accomplishments after signing the Paris Declaration in 2017.

Since then, funding for urban programs has increased more than fourfold. Currently:
- 98% of people living with HIV know their status;
- 96% are receiving treatment;
- 96% have an undetectable viral load.

Special attention is given to high-risk groups, with multidisciplinary teams working closely with them. A program has been implemented to assist individuals with substance use disorders.

Despite the ongoing war, no social programs have been cut; instead, Odesa has expanded its support for vulnerable populations.

This year's conference themes focus on addressing the issues faced by vulnerable communities and sharing experiences to achieve equitable and inclusive health outcomes.

“Currently, a significant issue for us is creating an accessible environment. The experience of Paris, which hosted the Paralympic Games, inspires us. I am confident that continued collaboration will lead to even greater progress in all areas of society, where the main value is human health and creating equal opportunities,” said Gennadiy Trukhanov.
