The Health Department of the Odessa City Council is actively working to ensure proper access to medical services for individuals with disabilities.
This includes the installation of ramps, elevators, specially equipped restrooms, user-friendly navigation, and the ability for wheelchair users to move independently within healthcare facilities.
Healthcare institutions are implementing initiatives aimed at creating barrier-free environments for patients, including: designated parking spaces with proper signage, tactile paving, ramp installations at entrances, ensuring elevator functionality, and creating accessible restrooms for individuals with disabilities, as well as providing navigational information in Braille.
Additional consultation rooms for patient examinations, including those with special needs, are available on the ground floors.
The principle of barrier-free access is being implemented in all outpatient and inpatient medical facilities. Furthermore, renovation works have been conducted to improve accessibility at Primary Healthcare Center No. 2 and diagnostic centers No. 20 and No. 29.
At the city clinical hospitals No. 1, No. 10, No. 11, and children's clinical hospital No. 3, work continues to create inclusive wards that meet modern accessibility standards for patients with various disabilities, including severe cases requiring constant assistance.
This involves equipping with functional beds, vital signs monitoring systems, and ceiling or mobile lifts.
Thanks to the support of charitable foundations, healthcare facilities in the city have additionally received inclusive equipment, including gynecological chairs with lifts and more.
