Innovative Cancer Treatments: New Horizons for Ukraine

Ukraine is set to begin the production of innovative medications targeting cancer diseases.

According to the press service of the state enterprise "Medical Procurements" on Facebook, an agreement with the international pharmaceutical company Roche for localizing the production of innovative oncology drugs was signed during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome.

"For the first time, our state enterprise is becoming a full-fledged partner of a global leader in the development of innovative medications! Under the investment agreement, the Swiss international company Roche will supply medicines to Ukraine in bulk – ready for packaging. Our branch, «Medpostachannia», will handle the final packaging, labeling, and delivery to patients," the statement reads.

This will significantly reduce the cost of medications and consequently increase the number of patients receiving modern treatment.

"According to Roche's estimates, over the next five years, the signed investment agreement will provide medications for more than 5,800 patients," stated the state enterprise "Medical Procurements".

In particular, the medications will include treatments for the two most common types of oncology in Ukraine:

- atezolizumab (“Tecentriq”) — for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer;

- pertuzumab + trastuzumab (“Phesgo”) — for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer.

The first Ukrainian patients will be able to receive locally produced medications as early as 2027.

This collaboration offers significant cost reductions for medications, development of pharmaceutical production in Ukraine, and sustainability of treatment access.

On July 10-11, the fourth International Conference on Ukraine Recovery (URC2025) is taking place in Rome, attended by the President of Ukraine and heads of European states.

This forum will continue a series of high-level political events focused on the rapid recovery and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine, which is suffering from external aggression. This time, the Ukrainian delegation will focus on presenting practical projects that are already being implemented even during wartime or have a high readiness for implementation.
