The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, held an online meeting with Mr. Tony Dyer, the leader of Bristol City Council.
During the dialogue, the parties explored prospects for collaboration, particularly in the fields of cinema and UNESCO.
Bristol is renowned for its vibrant arts scene and cinema. Since 2017, it has been a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, having been designated as a «City of Film».
«I believe that international relations should be based on practical connections between municipalities, which are more effective. Your experience in addressing community issues and managing UNESCO sites is crucial for us. We aim to learn from European cities to preserve our identity while advancing into the future», stated the Mayor of Odessa.
Representatives from Bristol plan to visit Odessa soon to strengthen partnerships and get acquainted with the city’s culture, history, infrastructure, and business.
Bristol was recognized as one of the best cities to live in the UK in 2014 and 2017, and it received the «European Green Capital» award in 2015.
