A 37-year-old man has been charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with a preventive measure of detention chosen. He faces up to eight years of imprisonment for his actions.
Officers from the Odesa District Police Department No. 2 discovered that a resident of the Vygodyanska community was selling ammunition and drugs, seeking buyers.
During investigative actions, law enforcement documented the suspect selling two grenades and a package of narcotic substances, receiving 5500 hryvnias in return.
Engaging specialists from the regional police explosive ordnance disposal unit, investigators seized grenade bodies with fuses, which, according to preliminary assessments, are operational military munitions. Also seized were substances confirmed as narcotics through rapid testing, along with cash.
Additionally, during a sanctioned search at the suspect's residence, several zip packs with similar plant material, packaging tools, and over a hundred rounds of ammunition were found. Part of the seized items has been sent for expert examination.
According to Andriy Donets, head of the Odesa District Police Department No. 2, the suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and has been charged with illegal acquisition, storage for sale, and illegal sale of narcotic substances (Part 1, Article 307 of the CC), as well as bearing, acquiring, and selling military munitions without the required legal permit (Part 1, Article 263 of the CC).
At the request of the investigators, the court has chosen a preventive measure of detention. The suspect faces up to eight years of imprisonment for the offenses committed.
All circumstances of the crime, including the channels through which the “goods” reached the suspect, will be established during the investigation. The procedural leadership in the case is conducted by the Bilyaivka District Prosecutor's Office.
