A man has been charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and bail has been set for his detention.
The operation to uncover the criminal activities was conducted by the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police in Odessa together with the Security Service.
According to preliminary information, a 42-year-old man turned his garage into a workshop for weapon modification. He ordered firearm replicas and parts online, then made alterations to convert them into real firearms, which he sold in the Odessa region.
Police documented the sale of modified weapons for 39,000 hryvnias. The suspect was apprehended while attempting to deliver another batch of weapons to a buyer.
Investigators conducted 10 searches in his vehicle, residence, workplace, and garages, where they found items resembling weapon replicas, bullets, magazines, and equipment used for weapon manufacturing. All items have been sent for forensic examination.
Additionally, cash in both national and foreign currency was seized, which the suspect likely received from weapon sales. Police are working to determine the origin of these funds.
The suspect has been informed of charges related to illegal weapon manufacturing and possession without authorization. The court has ordered his detention with a bail option set at 908,400 hryvnias.
The maximum penalty he faces is seven years in prison.
Investigative actions are ongoing. The case is being supervised by the Odessa city prosecutor's office.
