Cyclocross is a type of cycling competition held on mixed terrain. Cyclists on modified bikes navigate short distances (between 2.5 to 3.5 km) with various obstacles. Women compete for 35-40 minutes, while men race for about an hour. The average speed of cyclists is approximately 20 kilometers per hour. Cyclocross events generally take place in the fall and winter when road racers rest or prepare for the new season.
