On the final competitive day of the 2025 European Championship, Ukraine was represented in the only final - in the 50-meter freestyle event. 

The competition featured 18-year-old swimmer Nikita Sheremet from the Odesa SDYUSSHOR «Dynamo» swimming academy, who made his debut in international adult competitions.

In the final, Sheremet swam a time of 20.81 seconds, breaking the Ukrainian record as well as the world junior record. With this result, he earned a silver medal at Euro-2025, sharing second place with Olympic medalist Maxime Grousse (France). 

During the short course European Championship, Nikita also set two more Ukrainian junior records: in the 4x50 meter relay and in the 100-meter freestyle event. Nikita Sheremet brought Ukraine its first medal in the 50-meter freestyle in 12 years at the short course Euro. 

The athlete is coached by trainers Alla Tymofeeva and Oleksandra Kurbanova.
